ChildTalk Solutions Ltd – Privacy Policy

The General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) which came into force May 25th 2018 updates all regulatory guidelines on how data is processed. This policy is therefore written with this in mind for ChildTalk Solutions Ltd to be transparent in what data is collected and how it is used.

Why collection of information is necessary

It is necessary to collect and hold data so that ChildTalk Solutions Ltd can provide Speech and Language Therapy which is effective. It is also a ‘legitimate interest’ as stated in the GDPR that data related to  Children’s / Young People’s speech and language therapy case notes have to be kept until their 25th Birthday. Given this legal basis you cannot ask for data to be erased.

What is collected

ChildTalk Solutions Ltd may collect the following information when a referral enquiry is made:

  • Personal data: Name, Date of Birth, Address, School attended, telephone number, email address

Following consent, additional data is collected:

  • Information about social, educational, medical history (including referral letters and past reports.)
  • Clinical case notes which include assessments, intervention plans and clinical notes on progress. Case notes may be in the form of audio, photo and video as well as paper and electronic.
  • Reports written by ChildTalk Solutions Ltd and those received from other professionals who may be involved.

How is it collected?

Data is collected from parents/ carers and other professionals involved as well as Children / Young People seen.

Use of Information

The information is used to inform the interventions and to record the progress.

Sharing of information

Information is shared with those who are working with the child/ young person. These include assessment findings and therapy advice to ensure that what is being delivered is effective and can be carried out by others under the guidance of the Therapist.

Carrying Data

Data is only in carried when absolutely necessary for the provision of the speech and language therapy service. When in transit identifiable information is removed as far as is possible and carried in tamper proof pouches. 

How is it stored?

All information stored electronically or in paper form is secured either by password protection or locked in the appropriate fireproof filing cabinets; as has always been done. Cloud storage is encrypted and can only be accessed by password.

What are your rights?

You can always get in touch with us to ask what personal data we hold and to correct if there are any mistakes and update your data if anything changes. You will be asked for consent before Speech & language intervention (i.e. assessment and therapy) and before data is shared with other professionals or any other third party.

As from May 2018 new regulations come in to force regarding how data is held and used. As far as I am aware ChildTalk Solutions Ltd is fully GDPR compliant.

The website does not collect any information if you visit it.  It sets one necessary cookie as it has been created using WordPress.  You may disable cookies on your browser and it will not affect your usage of the website.

If ChildTalk Solutions enters into a piece of work with you; any data held is kept securely. E.g. personal details, clinical case notes, reports written and received.
